Alicia and Amara’s Bellevue Engagement Session

Alicia and Amara have been writing letters to each other for a very long time now. But the two of them had never met until last October. Alicia’s parents operate a non – profit organization in Sierra Leone, Africa. Alicia’s parents had been talking for quite some time about bringing Amara to the United States to attend college.

When Alicia traveled to Africa for the first time, she finally had the opportunity to meet her penpal, Amara. Meeting in person was magic and love at first sight for this couple! Immediately Alicia started working on how she could bring Amara back to the United States for school. Her parents thought that they might be able to get him to the States by spring. Alicia had other plans and her own timetable. She was pretty sure Amara should move immediately. Her plan won out! Amara is living in Bellevue with Alicia where he is attending Bellevue College.

We met up with Alicia and Amara at Bellevue’s Botanical Gardens on a sunny Seattle fall afternoon. The gardens are a great city escape just minutes from downtown Bellevue where we strolled with the couple through woods, display gardens, woodlands, meadows and wetlands. Around every turn there was something blooming with the season. The Botancial Gardens are a favorite place for photographers to capture the beauty of the outdoors. Now, add an adorable fun loving couple in front of that backdrop and you are able create amazing engagement photographs.

I literally smiled from ear to ear while I edited their photos. I knew a little about Alicia and Amara’s story from the staff at EE Robbins in Bellevue. I was so excited to receive Alicia’s email and even more excited to meet these two outstanding people in person. They are so in love with one another. Amara can’t help but steal looks at Alicia. (who would be able to resist, Alicia is incredibly beautiful). Photographing Amara and Alicia you can feel their very deep connection. Needless to say, I fell in love, too this past Saturday – with this amazing couple.

Congratulations Alicia and Amara on your engagement and upcoming wedding July 2012. The beginning of your love story is a marvelous inspirartion. We wish you many, many more chapters filled with love and laughter!

These pictures are really cute. The couple looks very classy and very happy together. Very classic engagement shoot. Great photography!

Lauren and Ian’s Safeco Field Engagement Photography Session

When we started talking about Lauren and Ian’s engagement session, the first place that they thought of to take their photographs was Safeco Field. It seemed like the perfect place. Embracing the couple’s shared passion, we would be able to capture Lauren and Ian in their element. Both are major baseball fans!! When they initially suggested this location, I honestly didn’t know if we’d be able to make it happen. But with connections in high places and a few phone calls later we were good to go! Ian was able to pull a few strings with an old high school friend, Christina, who proved to be a great hostess for us throughout the entire shoot.

When we all arrived at the the park we both nervous and a bit in awe of how different it felt to be there when no one else was there. Lauren and Ian were given access and full reign of the entire stadium from the 300 level down to the field. That included the dugout, the press room and the visitor’s locker room. Christina made a placard with Ian’s last name, “TAYLOR”, to place above their locker. His number? The year the couple go will say I do… 12.

Leaving Safeco Field, we walked a couple of blocks to Hooverville, Lauren and Ian’s favorite bar in the Sodo neighborhood. Everything about Hooverville evokes bygone times, from the bar’s vintage sign and iron-clad windows to the black-and-white 1930s photos. Hanging out at this Seattle watering hole is to soak up a miniature history lesson whilst sipping down a beer or two. Ian and Lauren enjoyed a Whiskey toast to celebrate their love and ate peanuts at “their table” and tossed the shells on the floor.

Saturday’s engagement session was an amazing experience. We can’t wait for May 5th, 2012 to share with Lauren and Ian’s their very special wedding day in Phoenix, Arizona at the Brophy Chapel and their wedding reception at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel.

Rachael and Craig’s Be(Loved) Session – Kerry Park, Seattle

Rachael and Criag are originally from Montana. Together, they moved to Washington for Rachael’s medical treatment at the University of Washington. This fall, they participated in the Seattle Brain Cancer Walk at the Seattle Center. Upon their arrival at the Walk, they made a beeline to the Patient Survivors tent. Each year, the amazing team that puts on the Seattle Brain Cancer Walk procures donations for the survivors of Brain Cancer. The tent allows patients to choose from an array of exciting packages and gifts ranging from a weekend get-a-way, a spa retreat, fine dining, a night out on the town, and so many more fantastic opportunities.

Rachael and Craig have been wanting to have photographs taken but haven’t had the opportunity. When they walked into the tent that morning, they knew exactly what they were looking for – a photography session. There were several photography packages for the patients to choose from. Rachel and Craig choose the Be(loved) Session donated by Visions of Romance. Be(loved) is more than just a photo session. In fact, the images are almost secondary to the experience. Through the images just like a special song or the scent of a favorite perfume/cologne, the couple is instantly taken back to that special moment in time, that wonderful place where they first fell in love.

Aaron and I felt blessed and very fortunate to meet this lovely couple at Kerry Park on a Saturday afternoon in October. We were thrilled to be able to work with Rachael and Craig to create the very heart-centric, imagination-rich, multi-sensory connection that created special moments between the two of them. It was a chance for the two of them to tell each other how much they really matter. Their Beloved session created a place to remember why they fell in love.

Rachael and Craig, Thank you! It was our honor to be selected as your photographers!

Janae and Eric’s Maple Valley Wedding – Lake Wilderness Lodge

Eric and Janae met on a camping trip in Eastern Washington. They knew immediately that they had that “something special” between them. Their relationship grew into a strong devoted love for each other and as it did Janae became a loving mother figure to Eric’s little girl. This year, Janae and Eric welcomed their own little baby boy into their family.

Eric and Janae’s wedding day at Lake Wilderness Lodge was filled with so many delightfully fun and crazy moments. Lake Wilderness Lodge is the perfect place to say “I Do”! Nestled on the shores of Lake Wilderness surrounded by a 108 acre park with Mt. Rainier as a backdrop. The day at this wonderful venue started out with rain. Forty five minutes before the ceremony the skies opened revealing a patch of blue sky. At that moment, it was declared that it was time for a switch! Hours before the scheduled ceremony everything had been set up to have an indoor wedding. While the beautiful bride and her groom waited anxiously for their “I Dos”, the entire bridal party moved all 170 chairs outside. Thrown into immediate action along with the florist, two coordinators, the DJ and two super helpful photographers. It was a race against the clock to say the least. But this very talented and committed crew made it just in the nick of time.

The reception moved indoors to the Lodge with three floors of window-lined rooms each with spectacular lake views. The wedding cake was seen slip sliding sideways. Everyone guessed that it was due to the warmth of the room. Two members of the bridal party moved the cake down the hall and into the extra large refrigerator. Later, that night, when it became time to cut the cake, the wedding coordinator and I moved the cake back out of the cooler and onto the cake table.

During, the reception, an ambulance was called because it was suspected that grandpa was having a heart attack. Thank goodness, he was actually fine. Too much excitement for sure – fortunately he didn’t miss a moment of the festivities staying at the party and not having to go to the hospital.

The bride and groom celebrated surrounded by an amazing group of loving family and friends. Dazzling wedding sparklers added romance to the night sky and marked the newlyweds exit. Check out the photos, the sparklers had a giant colored flame on the end of the stick which created tons of smoke! It was one fun exit to a super fun party! Janae and Eric left the reception for a 20 day honeymoon down under in Australia.

Thank you Janae and Eric for letting us share your very special wedding day. It was wonderful being a part of your celebration of love. We wish you and your “little family” a lifetime of love and laughter!

Great color scheme for the wedding. The white and green are very complimentary.

Stephanie and Burt’s Carnation Engagement Photography Session

Burt carried with him a secret for a very long time! The ring that he intended to give Stephanie when the time was right to propose was a family heirloom. The ring looks as if it was most likely someone’s wedding ring. However, the center stone was a ruby. The center stone of Stephanie’s ring has now been replaced with a diamond that the couple selected at EE Robbins. This ring with its special family meaning is now very unique to the two of them.

Stephanie grew up in Carnation on a farm. When I asked the two of them to select a place for their engagement pictures that had special meaning to the two of them, Stephanie suggested Tolt-MacDonald Park in Carnation. The beautiful river park was a quick get-out-of-town experience without straying too far! The 574-acre park sits at the confluence of the Snoqualmie and Tolt Rivers in the beautiful Snoqualmie Valley. A 500-foot suspension foot bridge crosses the Snoqualmie River and offers terrific views of the river and Cascade foothills. It was September after all and that meant that hundreds of spawning salmon filled in the river below. The setting was made complete with magnificent trees and a old red barn! It was a perfect destination and location to photograph this special couple.

It was truly a northwest photo shoot with rain, wind and a little bit of sunshine peaking out. We experienced it all. In the rain, we wandered down to the little spit of sand and rocks along the river. Look for the rain drops in a few of their photos. . .

Stephanie and Burt are getting married in November at The Chapel of the Flowers, in Las Vegas. Once they return home to Seattle, the newlyweds are planning a January wedding reception in Kirkland to celebrate with their family and friends!
